According to the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly "On Improving the Status of Women in Rural Areas" dated December 18, 2007, October 15 is celebrated annually in many countries around the world as the International Day of Rural Women.
In connection with this date, a round table discussion was held at the Andijan Machine-Building Institute.
Speaking at the event, Mukhtaramkhon Khalikova, Advisor to the Rector for Women's Affairs, stated that the UN calls for attention to the problems of women living in rural areas, particularly to create the necessary conditions for their education, work, well-being, protection from violence and pressure, and ensuring gender equality. She also provided information about the work being carried out in our country to support women living in rural areas and increase their social activity.
At the event, Gulmira Zufarova, head of the Department of Economics, and Saidakhon Atajanova, head of the Department of Information Technologies and recipient of the "Shuhrat Medal," also spoke. They emphasized that education knows no regional boundaries, and shared stories about scientists who grew up in villages, their achievements, the challenges they faced in pursuing education, their successes, and information about their families and children.
During the event, female students received answers and advice from their teachers on questions that interested them.
